Questions
Pricing
How much does house cleaning cost in Birmingham?
Most Birmingham homes are quoted as a flat price based on square footage, bathroom count and condition, rather than an hourly rate — so you know the cost before anyone arrives. A recurring clean of a typical three-bedroom home runs $140–170, and a first-time deep clean is $195–225 because it takes two to three times as long. Send us your details and we'll quote the same day.
Why is the first clean more expensive?
The first visit is usually a deep clean, which reaches everything a maintenance visit has no time for — inside appliances, grout, baseboards, vents and behind furniture. Once a home is at that baseline, holding it there takes far less time, so every visit after the first is cheaper.
Do you charge a cancellation fee?
No. Skip, move or cancel any visit at no cost, and there is no contract to leave. This is worth checking with anyone you're comparing us against — a $50 fee for changing a booking inside 24 hours is common in the Birmingham market, and it is not something we do.
Do I tip my cleaner?
It's never expected and never added automatically. Our cleaners are paid a proper wage rather than a tipped one. If you'd like to tip you can add it to any visit and it goes to your cleaner in full.
Questions
Booking & scheduling
How far in advance do I need to book?
Usually a few days. Recurring slots and Saturday times fill first, so book a week or two ahead if you need a specific day. Move-outs cluster at the end of the month, so the last few days of any month go first. We hold some short-notice availability for one-off deep cleans.
Do I need to be home?
No, and most clients aren't. You can give us a key, a lockbox code or a smart-lock code, and we'll text when the cleaner is on the way and again when the visit is done. If you'd rather be there for the first visit to walk through the house, that's welcome too.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Change anything online or by text, at any time, at no charge. We'd rather know as early as you can tell us so the cleaner's day can be rearranged, but there is no penalty for a late change and no fee for cancelling altogether.
Questions
What's included
What is included in a standard clean?
The full checklist is published on this site — every room and every task, in the order it's worked. In short: kitchen and bathrooms cleaned and sanitised throughout, all floors vacuumed and mopped, surfaces dusted, beds made, switches and handles disinfected, and a final walk-through against the list before we lock up.
Do you bring your own supplies and equipment?
Yes, including a vacuum. If you'd prefer we use your products — for a particular floor finish, an allergy, or a scent you dislike — leave them out and note it on your file, and we'll use yours instead at no difference in price.
Do you use eco-friendly or pet-safe products?
By default we use low-fragrance products that are safe around pets and children once dry. A fully fragrance-free or plant-based kit is available on request at no extra cost — flag it when you book so your cleaner brings the right set.
What is not included in a standard clean?
Anything needing specialist equipment or work at height: carpet extraction, exterior windows above the ground floor, mould remediation and heavy clutter clearance. Inside the oven and fridge belong to a deep clean rather than a standard one. Most exclusions can be added as an extra — ask when you book.
How long does a house clean take?
A recurring clean of a typical three-bedroom Birmingham home takes two to four hours. A first-time deep clean of the same home takes four to eight. Move-out cleans of empty homes are similar to deep cleans. Your quote states the expected time, so there are no surprises.
Questions
Trust & safety
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes to both. Nina Clean holds Alabama business licence number 2602879 and carries $1,000,000 in liability insurance covering every visit. We're happy to send the certificate before you book rather than after you ask.
What happens if something gets damaged?
Tell us and we'll make it right. Every visit is covered by our liability insurance, and our cleaners are instructed to report an accident rather than hide it. Genuine accidents happen in this work — how a company handles them is the part that actually matters.
What if I'm not happy with the clean?
Tell us within 24 hours and we'll come back and redo whatever was missed at no charge. If you'd rather we didn't come back, we'll refund that visit instead. Several companies here offer a re-clean but explicitly no refunds — we think you should get the choice.
Still have a question?
Ask it directly — we'd rather answer honestly up front than have you find out later.
